Rease’s Workshop was founded in January 2024 with one simple goal: build better controllers for competitive players. What started as customizing GameCube and Pro Controllers quickly evolved into something deeper, leading us to desig our own keyboard style controllers from the ground up which are engineered for precision, durability, and real tournament play.
Still a small team of college students, Rease’s Workshop blends hands on engineering with firsthand competitive experience. Every product is designed, tested, and refined by people who actually compete, iterate, and care about performance at the highest level.
The person behind it
Bringing this idea to life in 2024, Ian Rease is a mechanical engineering student at The Ohio State University focused on designing high performance esports controllers. With a background in competitive gaming and hands on engineering, Ian began building and modifying controllers to solve real problems players face at the highest level of competition. His work blends CAD design, rapid prototyping, and player driven iteration to create new controllers for everyone.

A Computer Science student also at The Ohio State University, Cayden Laukhuf met Ian in the fall of 2024 through competitive esports at Ohio State They quickly became great friends, and after hearing his background, along with with Ian's ambitions for this company, it was clear to both of them it'd only be a matter of time before Cayden would be invited to help. From the website design to internal programming, or just being a second head to throw ideas against, he's been a vital part of Reases Workshop since his join in early 2026.
